Materials Manager
Astrobotic is at the forefront of advancing space exploration and technology development. Beyond helping lead America back to the Moon, Astrobotic developed and operates reusable vertical takeoff, vertical landing (VTVL) rockets and continues to advance next-generation VTVL capabilities and advanced rocket engines. Established in 2007, Astrobotic is headquartered in Pittsburgh, PA, with a propulsion and test campus in Mojave, CA.
The Materials Manager will oversee our property and production control processes within our work environment that includes engineering development, integration, test, and manufacturing operations that will take us to the moon. This position will help develop inventory control and part management policies to be used across several facilities in Pittsburgh PA and Mojave CA. The ideal person will be well versed in planning, coordinating, and monitoring activities related to receiving, warehousing, distribution of material for R&D and low-rate production projects, and domestic and international shipments of all sizes.
Job Responsibilities:
- Oversee all materials-related activities, including warehousing, inventory management, production planning, shipping and receiving, and logistics.
- Contribute to the development of materials management procedures and policies that increase the control of all property.
- Identify and assist in implementation of continuous improvement efforts for inventory management systems and controls.
- Effectively and independently complete tasks in a Research & Development / Low-rate production environment.
- Monitor production schedules to meet internal and external customer requirements and program targets.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless communication and coordination.
- Work with Purchasing to schedule delivery of materials, supplies, and equipment.
- Work with Engineering regarding development of part numbers and proper storage requirements of parts.
- Supports data configuration management related to materials, such as part number generation & validation
- Work with Program Management regarding shipments of Finished Goods.
- Oversee and perform, as needed, receiving, inventory, and shipping transactions in accordance with company policy. Mentor and collaborate with other team members.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree
- 7+ years of experience in materials and property management in a complex R&D/low-rate production environment
- Strong knowledge of inventory management, production planning and logistics
- Experience with materials planning for production
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Proficient with inventory reporting systems
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel and Teams
- Experience with ERP systems and inventory management software
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Desired Skills & Qualifications:
- Experience working in aerospace industry or DOD contractor
- Experience complying with Federal Acquisition Regulations (FARs) and NASA requirements for materials and property compliance
Compensation & Benefits:
The base salary range represents the low and high end of the anticipated salary range for this position. The actual base salary offered will depend on numerous factors, including individual performance, business objectives, and the candidate’s professional & educational experience.
