
Facilities & Maintenance Technician (Contractor)

We recently launched and operated the first American lunar lander mission since the Apollo Program. Beyond helping lead America back to the Moon, Astrobotic developed and operates reusable vertical takeoff, vertical landing (VTVL) rockets and continues to advance next-generation VTVL capabilities and advanced rocket engines. Established in 2007, Astrobotic is headquartered in Pittsburgh, PA, with a propulsion and test campus in Mojave, CA.
We are seeking a skilled Facilities & GSE Maintenance Technician Contractor to join our team and help maintain the critical infrastructure that supports our mission to make space accessible to the world.
This is a 3 month contract position with the potential to extend based on need.
Job Responsibilities:
- Maintain, upgrade, and service multiple facility sites to ensure company operations remain functioning and active
- Support existing and new programs through timely maintenance and repair services
- Perform preventative maintenance on Ground Support Equipment (GSE) including oil changes, filter replacements, fluid checks, fueling, and hydraulic system maintenance
- Install, repair, and maintain plumbing systems (water and gas), electrical systems, and HVAC equipment
- Complete construction and renovation projects as needed
- Adhere to OSHA guidelines, properly use Safety Data Sheets (SDS), and follow general business safety operational requirements
- Utilize personal protective equipment (PPE) appropriately for all tasks
- Maintain clean and organized work areas and facilities
- Use computer systems to research components/parts, complete checklists, manage time, and document task completion
- Work autonomously or collaboratively as needed, demonstrating self-motivation and task prioritization
- Adapt to changing priorities and maintain flexibility in day-to-day operations
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- 5-7 years of experience working in maintenance, facility maintenance, ground support equipment, or a combination thereof
- Demonstrated knowledge and hands-on experience with plumbing (water and gas), electrical systems, HVAC, and construction
- Experience with GSE preventative maintenance procedures
- Understanding of OSHA guidelines, SDS, and safety operational requirements
- Proficiency with computer systems for parts research, documentation, and task management
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Physical ability to work both indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions
- Capacity to work in different positions including standing, sitting, squatting, climbing ladders, and laying on the ground
- Ability to lift and carry materials, tools, and parts required for job completion
Desired Skills & Qualifications:
- Experience working around or on aircraft, spacecraft, rocket motors, or at an airport
- Certifications in relevant maintenance specialties
- Knowledge of aerospace industry standards and practices
- Experience working in high-tech or specialized manufacturing environments
- Problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex systems
